Methodology
Throughout my life as a musician, I have learned from many different teachers, all with varying methods and techniques. Because of this, I have discovered what works and what does not work. Learning to read music is frustrating, especially for young children, however, learning to play music is fun. My methodology is to teach them the basics in the context of their favorite songs and music genre. If music was just paper, everyone would be able to look at a sheet of music, and it would come out to sound the exact same way. Using my approach, students will develop their own styles of music, while learning chords in an interactive, engaging environment. I strongly feel that music is something that cannot be appreciated by just watching a "learn how to" YouTube video. Being a musician is a lifelong quest because there is always more to know and experience. As a result, I truly believe my methodology will allow children to find their inner musician and begin to play their favorite song starting day one.
